APWA Traveling Fellowship Program 2026

October to November 2026

Aim of the Program

The APWA Traveling Fellowship Program is aimed to be an international collaboration that will enhance training and exchange of knowledge and skills in wrist surgery.

Target Applicants

  • Surgeons interested in wrist surgery and research and are willing to fulfill the responsibilities of this program.
  • Maximum 3 applicants will be accepted

Recruitment Criteria for Applicants

  • Active FULL Member of APWA
  • No age limitation but young surgeons are encouraged
  • Practicing surgeons in Orthopaedics, Plastic or Hand Surgery
  • Recommendation letters of 2 referees with at least ONE being a Full Member of APWA
  • Provide an abstract of an academic paper that you would present at the APWA 11 th Annual Congress in Kyoto, Japan

Training to be Provided by the Training Centers & Supervisors

  • The training centers and supervisors are approved by the Executive Board of APWA
  • Clinical activities in the training centres have to be focused on wrist disorders, management and surgery.

    (e.g. operations,  clinic visit, in-patient round, research meeting, journal club,  basic research facilities on wrist surgery etc.)

Application Instructions

Applicant MUST:

  • Be APWA Paid-up Full Member
  • Be a Certified Orthopaedic / Plastic / Hand Surgeon in his/her Country
  • Speak fluent English
  • Demonstrate commitment to the clinical practice and research in wrist disorders as manifested through working experience, presentations, publications and teaching
  • Make yourself available for the compulsory period of the fellowship training schedule (4 weeks in the fourth quarter of 2022)
  • Be prepared to give an oral Free Paper presentation at the upcoming APWA Congress
  • Be prepared to give an oral presentation about the travelling experience in the upcoming APWA Webinar
  • Submit a written report at the end of the programme within 3 months to the APWA Secretariat Office.

  1. Completed Application Form
  2. One Personal Statement in English
    • Do not exceed 500 words, detailing why you want to be an APWA Travelling Fellow and what you can offer to the programme
  3. TWO Confidential Recommendation Letter from senior Orthopaedic / Plastic / Hand Surgeons who are working / have worked with you and are familiar with your work.
    • At least ONE of the Recommendation Letters must be from an APWA paid full member
  4. Curriculum Vitae*
  5. A High Resolution Photo

*Complete your Curriculum Vitae on a separate attachment according to the following format.

  • Full Name of applicant
  • List of international and local professional medical organization to which you belong
  • List the committee appointments, which you received in the above medical organizations
  • List articles you have published, with title of the article, name of journal, name of authors, pages number and date of published.
  • List the textbooks or chapters, which you have written or edited. Identify title, publisher and year.
  • List manuscripts submitted for publications, identify the article and the journal. Provide the date of submission.
  • List research grants received and the sources. Provide all authors in proper sequence and amount of each grants.
  • Describe clinical and basic research work, which is now in progress.
  • List all the movies, sound slide programmes, exhibits, audiotapes and videotapes that you have developed or co-developed. You should also list the scientific meetings where each has been presented.
  • List scientific presentations, at international meeting (include title of paper, organization, location and meeting dates).

Deadline of Application and Announcement of Results

All applicants must submit the following information via email to APWA Secretariat at [email protected] no later than 15th June 2026 at 23:59 (SGT).

  1. Complete led application form
  2. TWO reference letters from APWA Full members
  3. Up-to-date practicing certificate

Results of successful applications will be announced on the website and informed personally by email on or before 20 July 2026.
